HOST

General Information

Name: Avis Cheshire

Nickname(s): Avi; But she only lets VERY close friends call her that.

Gender: Female

Age: 13

Birthday:The 13th of June

House Information

House: Dullahan

Rank: Graveyard Keeper

Level: 2

Self-Information

Lonely
•This is due to Avis being alone for most of her life, with not many friends. Grimm is a BIG exception to this, but he's not human, so it's not really the same...
•Unfortunately, this makes social things rather awkward, as she doesn't really know how to converse well with kids her age.
•Another unfortunately, this makes her timid around large groups of people

Clever
•Her former way of living has many bad things about it, but her way of learning is a positive concept.
•She's rather smart for her age, and excels in school. This has made her pretty observant.
•If there's mindwork or a manner of manual labor to do that is essential, she's a good subject for the job.

Neat-Freak
•She's VERY serious about being clean.
•Or, at least orderly, so she knows where everything is. Don't mess up her desk or something, though. Just. Don't. You'll regret it.
•i guess that this is ocd and its not ocd at the same time

Friendly-if-you-know-her
•As said in the title, she's a nice person if you know each other, and will attempt to be friendly if you are aquaintances.
•However, it's still kind-of awkward, as she'll go out of her way to assist friends or do something ridiculous if you need her to.
•Text above only applies if act is sensible and won't need Avis to go and get messy or rip her cape or something

Personality Summary
Avis is someone that is polite and nice, but one would only see the sociable part of her if they're buds. She's rather withdrawn, due to an isolated childhood. Due to this, her social life with kids her age isn't too good. Either way, she's clever and reliable, even though she's really serious about staying orderly. With all this, she's a person that can be awkward to be around at first, but after a while, she's nice, and will go out of her way to help you.

One more thing. She happens to be frightened easily, but you have to be picky about your terms of scaring her if you'd like to give it a try. For instance, "scary" things like ghouls, monsters, and scary masks will not scare her, but fairly normal things will, like frightening from behind, or making a rather huge mess.

Backstory

•Be prepared for a long history.•

    Um, is this thing on?
Okay, Grimm says this recorder-thing is on, so I'll take his word that it's on.
I've been told to give a little excerpt of my past. You can hear, but you can't tell ANYONE, okay?

I'll start from the beginning.
Year I

I was born sometime in June, in England someplace. Yes, I've got British blood, don't question it.
Anyway.
I had a Mum and Father, like many other children. However, our family was very privileged, as my parents had jobs concerning adult businesses I could never understand. As they had a reputation to uphold, I had to live like them in their dull lives. I had to learn and live isolated, as I was certainly above the children I saw on the streets, in cars, in stores as we passed.

I hated it. But I couldn't hate my parents. No matter how much I wanted to, I couldn't. They loved me in too many ways to ignore, even though they treated me special due to my Synesthesia, which was a condition which caused me to see the world with kaleidoscope eyes.
So I went on loving them.
I was about 11 when things changed.
It was a pleasant Friday afternoon, and I was being driven home. Then, there was an ear-piercing screech at the end of the road. Lights flashing. People shouting.
Coming our way, was a vehicle, speeding without a care. With a glimpse into the windshield, I could tell the driver was drunk. I could tell that something was going to happen. I did nothing, simply gaping there as my driver attempted to get out of it's way. He was too slow, and I remember screaming as we collided. The world tilted crazily as the car flipped. There was a large crash of glass and metal, then my vision went black with pain.
I thought I died. Did I die? It was blurry.
When I gained consciousness, I was in a hospital bed, the soft beeping of healing machinery making a rhythm. So I didn't die. Great. I must've been close, though. My head ached like heck, and there were bandages wrapped so hastily about my chest, which was throbbing with pain.
I turned my head to the desk beside the cot. Beside the lamp was a leather-bound book, with a note attached. Curious, I reached over and read it over. A get-well present from my Grandparents. The book was titled, "Grimm's Fairy Tales." For the remainder of my time in the hospital, I read the stories in it, occasionally interrupted by doctors or my parents.
A month later, it was like the accident never happened. I took careful care of the novel, sure to write letters to my Grandparents. My parents confronted me, one day, to discuss something.
Apparently, we had to go live with my Grandparents. In the United States.
They told me that it would be better to go live with them. They also tried to sugar-coat it with how I could get better college credentials or how my Grandparents really missed me, or how it would do me good to travel about and learn more about the world. I had friends where I lived, though. I didn't want to leave all I worked for here. I suspected that they feared for my safety here after the car incident. So, we moved to Meansville.
After we moved in and such, my parents instantly took to going off often to work. So my Grandparents were technically my parents. Anyhow, I got used to life here, even though I had no friends when school started. One day, I was reading the book that my Grandparents gave me at the back porch, swinging my legs on the bench I was sitting on. I was on my favorite chapter about Peter Pan. I decided to take a break and stop reading for the time being. However, after I closed the book and swung the leather latch closed, I heard something. A voice that echoed slightly. And it sounded like it was coming from my bloody book.
Hello, my book said. It's nice to meet you. I opened it to the front page, which was always blank. There was ink on it. It drew it's own way across the parchment as the voice spoke, like subtitles to a movie. "W-Who are you?" I asked. I'm nameless. Don't question it. "How long have you been in m-my book?" The voice paused. Now that I think about it, I don't really know. Probably a long time, though. "Are you a ghost?" The book snickered. You ask a TON of questions, little miss. And NO, I'm not a ghost. I'm a spirit. Those two things are completely different. I flipped through the book quickly. The book didn't have a voice-device or something. So my favorite book was haunted. Fantastic.
I kept the book with me for the rest of the day. For some reason, my parents or Grandparents didn't hear him. I guessed it was a him, at least. After dark, its harsh tone prodded me awake.
Let's go out somewhere. I'm bored. I buried my head in my pillow. "Please let me sleep.." Come on, you're not going to enjoy such a nice night? Look how dark it is outside! I didn't fear the dark very much. It was actually quite comforting, and I felt safe in the dark. I was actually really tempted to follow my book's wants. "Okay, fine, but only for a little bit." So with that, I threw on a jacket and tiptoed out. I simply followed my book's instructions from there, and we talked a little on the way, guided by streetlights. After a while, we found a house in the woods. I don't know why we went in the woods, but we did. We met some other children there, and I noticed that they had things floating around  them, but it was blurry and I couldn't particularly see their forms right. They noticed that I had a talking book, surprisingly, and led me to some other children who examined it. I know they were strangers and all, but I was on to something with the talking-book thing. The kids handed it back. "It looks like you've got a spirit here that wants you to be it's host!" By now, I knew about the Host-Spirit thing, since my talking book educated me on that on the way to the house.
Well? DO you want to be my host? It could be fun, you know, My book encouraged. I ended up accepting, and the ink in the book melted onto the floor and took shape. It looked like a horse, the kind that heroes would ride. Perfect! Do you know how it feels to be cramped in a book for so long? One of the kids offered for me to join the House, since I seemed fit for it. Suprisingly again, I gave a solid Yes. I ended up calling my book-spirit Grimm, because of the book he dwelled in. We walked home afterward, tiptoed back to my room, and slept straight on t'il morning, but with new dreams.

Year II
I ended up being a scout for my first year, and just ran about doing errands and such. It was so much better than staying at home all alone, though. A bit after my first year, I got promoted to Graveyard Keeper, which concerns me keeping things tidy, which is right up my alley.

SPIRIT

General Information

Name: Grimm

Gender: Male

  Offence Information

Elemental Ability: Shadow Manipulation

•This ability lets Grimm use the darkness to his advantage. He can seize up the shadows like water, then solidify them to his causes. For instance, he can conjure them to his head, and use them like horns. He can create cool things with them, but he can only keep them in a solid form for a very short time. Grimm has a habit of using this ability to trip his adversaries, as he thinks that it's funny when they fall.

Weapon/Fighting Style: Hooves, Use of Shadows, and Horns.

•He usually charges straight into battle, aiming to distract and whittle down the enemy by simple things like tripping and trapping, then using the advantage.

Self-Information

Confident

•Unlike Avis, Grimm is more sure of himself, and this makes him the stronger of the partners, in the case of brawn.

Mischievous

•Grimm likes to see the reactions on peoples faces when they find out that they've been hoodwinked. With that, he'll prank people every once in a while. He gets caught once in a while, though.

•Due to this trait, he enjoys messing up things around Avis. He always cleans up afterward though.

Rash

•There's a disadvantage to being as self-sure as Grimm is. If he sees that something is wrong, he'll launch himself at the situation without gathering information first.

•With this in mind, Avis is constantly there to hold him back.

Loyal

•If you guys are buddies, you have nothing to fear of him breaking a promise. This applies to EVERYONE, even if you're from a different house.

Personality Summary

Grimm is a free spirit, since he's a horse. However, the wildness inside him usually causes him to be a little hooved trickster sometimes, and creates a bold personality. Along with that, Grimm is VERY devoted to his allies, even though he can make some bad choices considering tactics. He has been stuffed in a book for quite a long time, though, so most could suppose that's natural.

Another thing. Grimm isn't one to frighten and get a good laugh out of unless the trickster is fairly brave, because he will give you the silent treatment or the death stare. If it's only a little prank however, he's fine with it. He might get you back later, though, sometimes with the very same prank.

BACKSTORY

Avi said that I have to give a backstory if she did one. Well, guess what? I don't HAVE a backstory, nor am I SUPPOSED TO. All I remember is being in the book and being with Avi, that's all.

:IMPORTANTE TRIVIA:

•Avis aspires to be a writer, along with her Piano playing. She's more self-assured when by herself. Also, she seems to act more mature around her parents, as she doesn't want them to find out that she does what she does in the House of Dullahan.

•Avis also has Synesthesia, which is a neurological condition which causes her to see numbers and letters in different colors. She could tell you what color your name is if you ask nicely.

•Grimm will panic if trapped.

•They both like playing Chess. They also both like reading books/Fairy Tales.

•One time, when there was a circus nearby, Avis and Grimm went. Grimm got the great idea of messing around with the show a little, and that led to Avis's strong dislike of clowns

•She really REALLY FREAKIN LOVES CAPES. Avis thinks they look majestic, like the princes from her book, and wears her cape often. Not in front of many adults, though.

•Grimm really wants to know how opposable thumbs work. He really, really does.

•He also prefers to be called a STALLION, not a pony.  Don't make any MLP refs. He's gonna cry.

•Avis's Grandparents used to have a dog, which she played with. It died. The end.

•Avis has a stutter in her voice. She's working on smoothing it out.

•They both do not tolerate bullying and the soiling of the Graveyard.

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE

Avis looked around. Her grandparents and Parents weren't home at the moment, so this was her chance. In the polished house, the scout needed to "borrow" something from her parents for the House. Grimm trotted like a hound beside her in the frame-laden hallways, also sniffing about for what they needed. They eventually came across the Attic, where there was as much dust as boxes. And there were a LOT of boxes. The fact that everything was so messy slightly frustrated her, but she could fix it later. She turned to Grimm, who was floating aimlessly, inspecting the crates and boxes. "G-Grimm, are you sure that we can't get this anywhere else?" The horse snorted. Who else do you know in the neighborhood owns dead animal samples? I don't feel like rummaging for carcasses in the woods, either. "Yeah, b-but what if Grandpa wants to use it later?" Avi. I don't think your Grandfather would put some dead butterflies up here if he needed them. Plus, he already has that old deer skull he found in his study room. He probably can get more butterflies in the spring. Avis paused, thinking what Grimm said out, then responding. "That sounds reasonable. Um,wait, I think I remember the box he put it in.." With that, she went through a battered chest for a minute, then produced a small glass case with some deceased butterflies pinned in the inside. Oh, great! Now we can just report back to Melanie's House and turn it in! Avis sighed in relief, as they had finished their task. She and Grimm headed back to the Dullahan base a while later, even though Avis reminded herself to ask her Grandfather about what he would do with pinned, lifeless butterflies.
